Elizabeth Houts

Liz Houts grew up in rural Pennsylvania, where she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree from Juniata College. A classically-trained vocalist, Liz sang with the Juniata College Concert Choir, which toured through Europe and Brazil and was featured on a CBS Christmas Eve special during her tenure. She was also a peer writing tutor and student journalist for the school newspaper.

After college, Liz relocated to Ann Arbor, Michigan, where she built a successful career in the real estate industry. In 2013, Liz made a career change and headed south to Tulane University Law School to pursue her Juris Doctorate.

In her first year at Tulane, Liz helped found the first law student division of the Federal Bar Association in the nation, and served as chapter President. Liz was also highly involved with Tulane’s Moot Court program. The very first closing argument she delivered earned her first place in the “1L Open” trial competition. Liz continued to hone her litigation skills as a mock trial competitor, and later as a mock trial coach.

Liz returned to Ann Arbor for an externship with the Washtenaw County Prosecuting Attorney in the summer of 2014. She then studied abroad in Berlin, earning certifications in alternative dispute resolution (“ADR”), mediation, and international arbitration. Putting her new skills to work, Liz won first place in Tulane’s intraschool ADR competition during the 2014-2015 school year. She also participated in a one-week “Boot Camp” course in civil litigation, where Lawrance Bohm happened to be her instructor on the very day she was scheduled to interview for a 2015 summer clerkship with the Bohm Law Group (she got the job).

In her final year of law school, Liz was a Student Attorney with the Tulane Criminal Law Clinic. Due to her achievements in Tulane’s various advocacy programs, she was selected for membership in the Order of the Barristers honorary society upon her graduation in 2016. Liz then moved to Sacramento to begin a permanent position with the Bohm Law Group.

Liz remains an avid music lover, enjoys spending time with her puggle, Gidget, and travels whenever she can to visit the family and friends she’s left scattered about the country along her path.
